My name is Simon Hansen and I am the breeder behind the Bazinga prefix. The dogs & I live on the outskirts of Oslo, on a farm with over 4 acres of land to keep the dogs happy, fit & sane.
It all started in 2001, when I as an eleven-year-old boy, saw a photo of lovely Ch. Enigma Shining Hickory when she was BOB at the Norwegian Winner Show that year. I was struck by the incredible beauty of the Pharaoh Hound breed and thought to myself "I want a dog like that someday!"
I grew up with lots of different pets in our home. We've had birds, parrots, a cat, gerbils, hamsters, fish etc. I have always loved animals. My family was never a "dog family", though. But that changed when I got my very first dog in 2002 - my beautiful, funny & stubborn girl, Tara, who was an Airedale terrier x German Shepherd mix. At that time, I was dedicated to and in love with Airedale Terriers and Terriers in general, and still today the Airedale terrier is one of my favourite breeds and it will always have a special place in my heart.
I never forgot about the Pharaoh Hound, however, and in 2005 my fascination for this wonderful breed grew stronger, and there has been no way back... Since then, I have been studying this breed extensively and I have been very fortunate to get to know so many wonderful and knowledgeable people within the breed.
Finally, in the spring of 2009 I imported my long awaited Pharaoh Hound puppy from Finland, Ch. Mesmerizing Made In Heaven "Izzie". Her pedigree consists of several of my favourite Pharaoh Hounds from Finland, Sweden and the USA. Izzie is the foundation bitch here at Bazinga, and all Bazinga pedigrees to this day can be traced back to her. I can't thank Izzie's breeder and my friend, Ann Moring, enough for this beautiful Pharaoh Hound with a heart of gold! She has been the perfect "first Pharaoh" for me, and she is a highly loved family member and I am so grateful. Izzie is the dam of the Bazinga A-litter and D-litter.
I am very fascinated by genetics and breeding in general, and I am very passionate about the Pharaoh Hound breed. My kennel prefix Bazinga was approved in 2010 and my first Pharaoh Hound litter was born in 2013. I am looking forward to spending many more exciting and active years with this breed!
Kennel Bazinga's first PH litter was born on March 28th 2013 and consisted of two males and five females, all except one are champions.
More info about the A-litter can can be found here.
I am an authorized FCI judge for Italian Greyhounds, Pharaoh Hounds, the Portuguese Podengo breeds, Salukis & Whippets. I am also currently a student judge for several other breeds. I have also participated at the Norwegian Kennel Club's "Breeder's School" in 2012. I enjoy participating at dog shows and I have become a huge fan of lure coursing. I think it's important that we preserve the coursing skills inherent in the Pharaoh Hound and to demonstrate that they can perform the functions for which they were originally bred. Dual purpose in other words! I am a member of the Norwegian Lure Coursing Committee.
The word Bazinga is defined as "A catchy phrase to accompany your clever pranks", popularized by Sheldon Cooper on the TV-show The Big Bang Theory. I think the prefix Bazinga fits our breed perfectly! ;)

Ch. Bazinga A Storm of Swords "Storm" going Best of Opposite Sex with a 4-point Major from the Bred-By Exhibitor Class at Westminster KC Dog Show 2015 under Sighthound specialist Mrs. Gayle Bontecou, USA! The icing on the cake was the fact that litter sister GCh. SBIS RBIS Bazinga A Dream of Spring For Mia "Summer" won Best Of Breed! Westminster 2015 is thus far the highlight of my career as a breeder!
Some of my highlights as a breeder are the following wins with my homebred Pharaoh Hounds:
