~BAZINGA PHARAOH HOUNDS~
*~* A B O U T B A Z I N G A *~*
My name is Simon Hansen and I am the breeder behind the Bazinga prefix. The dogs & I live on the outskirts of Oslo, on a farm with over 4 acres of land to keep the dogs happy & fit.
It all started in 2001, when I, as an eleven-year-old boy, saw a photo of lovely Ch. Enigma Shining Hickory when she was BOB at the Norwegian Winner Show that year. I was struck by the incredible beauty of the breed and thought to myself "I want a dog like that someday!"
I grew up with lots of different pets in our home. We've had birds, parrots, a cat, gerbils, hamsters, fish etc. My love for animals is and will always be huge. My family was never a "dog family", though. But that changed when I got my very first dog in 2002 - my beautiful, funny and stubborn girl, Tara (Airedale terrier x German Shepherd Dog). At that time, I was dedicated to and in love with Airedale terriers and terriers in general, and still today the Airedale terrier is one of my favourite breeds and it will always have a special place in my heart.
I never forgot about the Pharaoh Hound, though, and in 2005 my fascination for this wonderful breed grew stronger, and there has been no way back... Since then, I have been studying this breed intensively and I've gotten to know so many wonderful people within the breed and I have learned so much!
Finally, in the Spring of 2009 I imported my long awaited Pharaoh Hound from Finland, Mesmerizing Made In Heaven "Izzie". Her pedigree consists of many of my favourite Pharaoh Hounds from Finland, Sweden and the USA, and I am looking forward to introducing these exciting bloodlines in Norway. I can't thank Izzie's breeder and my friend, Ms Ann Moring, enough for this beautiful Pharaoh Hound with a heart of gold! She has been the perfect "first Pharaoh" for me, and she is a highly loved family member and I am so grateful. Thank you, Ann!
I am very fascinated by genetics and breeding in general, and I am very passionate about the Pharaoh Hound breed. My kennel prefix Bazinga was approved in 2010 and my first Pharaoh Hound litter was born in 2013. I am looking forward to spending many more exciting, fun, active and educational years with this breed!
Kennel Bazinga's first PH litter was born on March 28th 2013 and consisted of two males and five females.
I am an authorized ring steward in the Norwegian KC and am currently a student judge for Pharaoh Hounds and a handful of other breeds. I have also participated at the Norwegian Kennel Club's "Breeder's School" in 2012. I enjoy participating at dog shows and I have become a huge fan of lure coursing. I think it's important that we preserve the coursing skills inherent in the Pharaoh Hound and to demonstrate that they can perform the functions for which they were originally bred. Dual purpose in other words! I am currently the president for the Norwegian Lure Coursing Committee.
The word Bazinga is defined as "A catchy phrase to accompany your clever pranks", popularized by Sheldon Cooper on the TV-show The Big Bang Theory. I think the prefix Bazinga fits our breed perfectly! ;)
I am a member of:
The Norwegian KC
The Norwegian Podenco Club
The Swedish Pharaoh Hound Club
The Finnish Pharaoh Hound Club
The Pharaoh Hound Club UK

I am currently the editor for the Norwegian Podenco Club's magazine El Podenco, and have served as editor for The Swedish Pharaoh Hound & Cirneco dell'Etna Club's magazine Tidningen För Farao & Cirneco for several years before. I also serve as the secretary of the Norwegian Podenco Club and I am a member of the Swedish PH Club's lure coursing section.
Ch. Bazinga A Storm of Swords "Storm" going Best of Opposite Sex with a 4-point Major from the Bred-By Exhibitor Class at Westminster KC Dog Show 2015 under Sighthound specialist Mrs. Gayle Bontecou, USA! The icing on the cake was the fact that litter sister GCh. SBIS RBIS Bazinga A Dream of Spring For Mia "Summer" won Best Of Breed! Westminster 2015 is thus far the highlight of my career as a breeder!
Our first Newfoundland joined the Bazinga team in 2015. I have always admired this breed, and I have been looking for the right puppy with the right pedigree for quite some time. I finally found what I was looking for when I first laid eyes on Bikkjehaugen's Firestone For Bazinga "Stella" as a five-week-old puppy. Stella is owned by myself and my friend Adriane Andersen, and is bred by Ole and Randi Nygård of Bikkjehaugen kennels, Norway. Thank you for this beautiful and wonderful Newfie girl! Stella's debut show weekend resulted in a Best In Show puppy win over approximately 200 puppies in April 2015. We can't wait to see what the future holds baby Stella!
